The calculator uses the standard resting energy requirement formula: 70 × body weight in kilograms0.75. It then applies a veterinary life-stage or activity factor. The result is a starting estimate, not a fixed prescription.
Veterinary references note that dogs of the same weight may need meaningfully different calorie amounts. Monitor body weight and body condition, count treats, and adjust with your veterinarian.
