Carrier and car practice
Leave carriers open at home with bedding and treats. Practice short car sessions. For dogs, rehearse stepping on a scale and accepting gentle handling.

Tell staff about fear, bite history, pain, or escape risk before handling begins. Ask for explanations and written instructions.
After the visit
Review medication labels, schedule rechecks, and clarify which changes require an immediate call. Keep the visit summary in the pet emergency file.
