Questions to ask
- Are new patients being accepted?
- How are same-day illnesses handled?
- Where are patients referred after hours?
- Are diagnostics and surgery performed on site?
- How are fearful pets handled?
- How are estimates, records, and follow-up communicated?
- Does the clinic treat your species and relevant conditions?
Evaluate the first visit
You should receive understandable explanations, opportunities to ask questions, and clear next steps. A good relationship allows respectful disagreement and discussion of costs and alternatives.
Bring a complete history

- Diet and treat information
- Photos or video of intermittent symptoms
- Written questions
Changing clinics
